Uber Dealing with Data Breach After Attack on Vendor

Uber Technologies Inc. is currently investigating the hack of its vendor, Teqtivity, which helps manage and track information technology equipment. The cyberattack has leaked data and the email addresses of over 77,000 Uber employees. Deloitte India has terminated an employee this week accused of running a global hacking gang, WhiteInt. The gang was exposed in a sting operation conducted by “The Sunday Times” and the Bureau of Investigative Journalism. Australia’s Biggest Health Insurer Suffers Major Hack

Australia’s leading Health Insurer, Medibank Private Ltd, has said that a hacker had compromised the data of all of the company’s 3.9 million customers. Medibank covers a sixth of the country’s entire population and the attack comes just one month after Australian telecommunications company, Optus, was breached in a similar fashion. All personal data and a significant number of health claims data were compromised with Medibank continuing to discover the specific data that was stolen.

Airport Cyberattacks Reported Across the United States

Over a dozen of the websites for some of nation’s largest airports were temporarily brought offline on Monday morning, with Russian-speaking hackers claiming responsibility. The airports affected by the attack included LaGuardia in New York City, Chicago O’Hare, Denver, and LAX among others. Thankfully, these attacks did not affect air traffic control, internal airport communication, or other important airport operations.
